Electric Radiant
There's about 1,000 sq. ft. of SunTouch electric radiant mat, a system that was designed specifically for the Lodge by Watts Radiant. At a cost of $14 per square foot, you can guess that this was no incidental expense; we wanted to be sure that the finished basement would be comfortable year-round.
The under-floor system is extensive, but also very efficient to operate. If not for the electric radiant heat, installed directly below the tile and stone, the floors would be extremely uncomfortable spring, fall, and winter.
There are 3 zones to the electric radiant system - each downstairs bedroom has its own thermostat and the main area is also served by a t-stat. All t-stats are programmable.
